No one, including their family, knew at that time where they were and why arrested.
The junta kept silent weeks.Shan people asked, the junta did not reply, so rumor spread cross the country.
Information Minister Brigadier General Kyaw San opened his mouth at a briefing all of a sudden on Tuesday, "the Shan leaders are charged with conspiracy against the state".
Every Burma's citizen is shocked into a stupor.
The charge,equivalent to high treason, carries the death penalty along the 43-year military-rule. If the fascist junta wants to show you mercy, then a sentence of life-imprisonment!
Now, General, tell us when the trials will end?the minister did not say.
General, why the detainees are barred from using lawyers?Police chief Brigadier General Khin Yee,in military uniform,replied, " Our trials are conducted in accord with prevailing laws.We provide them lawyers. They donot need own lawyers at all".

General Secretary of the Shan Democratic Union, Sai Wansai, was so angry and told us that the government is exaggerating the social gathering as conspiracy and it is in fact political assassination. The authorities haven 't allowed the defendants to choose their own lawyers or meet them, but forced them to accept the ones appointed by them.
Sai Wansai, General Secretary of the Shan Democratic Union, accused more indignantly the Burmese junta of trying to block the just demands of the ethnic nationalities for equal rights and genuine Federal Union of Burma.
The junta's political play recalls us to the days of our students'movements during Ne Win's time:
-We demonstrated on 7-7-1962 in the Rangoon University. The junta sent the army to shoot us dead or wound ,arrested us and drove us all home.
-We demonstrated 1963 for the domestic peace, the junta closed all our universities and expelled the student leaders out of the universities for ever.
-We established Burmese Students Union in 1968 in Germany and published the students' magazine Fighting Peacock (Khutdaung). The junta ordered us to dissolve our student organisation and banned our publication .We refused. So the junta asked the GDR authority to deport our 4 leaders, Ko Thein Win (Chairman), Ko Khin Maung Htwe(Vice Chairman),Ko Min Zaw (Treasury, a Burma's Chinese), Ko Kyaw Win(Secretary) in 1968-69 from East Berlin via Moscow to Rangoon.
The junta has copied since 1962 the common formular of accusation as follows:"Under the guise of ??????(fill up),these people have been trying to disrupt country's peace and stability by attempting to create unrest and heading towards the disintegration of national unity"
You don't believe?Then please listen what the Minister General, in military uniform, said this time in the case of Shan leaders:
"Under the guise of (full in: demanding national euqal rights and a genuine federal state),these people have been trying to disrupt country's peace and stability by attempting to create unrest and heading towards thedisintegration of national unity" .
Can you remember what the junta accused of Aung San Suu Kyi, the leader of NLD?
Can you recall what the junta accused of U tin Oo, the vice chairman of NLD?
What have the junta accused of the leaders of students and ethnic nationalities?
Please recollect too,the accusation of the junta to 1500 political prisoners who are still in junta's jails.
