Governent closed a home for aids orphans

(Feb. 25, 2004)Home of Care - a non-government organization to take care of aids orphans whose parents have died of aids is closed by China government. The government official today anounced this type of organization as illegal.

Home of Care is located in Henan Province, this province has an unkown number of aids patients, the high can be 2 million according to non-government studies. These aids patients are poor villagers who sell blood to the government. The local government 'invented' a new procedure to collect blood, they put all blood together and inject red cells back to blood sellers. This practice made the blood sellers affected aids in large scale. Henan government has tried to hide the facts, at least one was sentenced because of releasing the 'secret'. (boxun.com)

The government did not take any action until this year, but tried to hide the fact. Many have died and left the kids uncared. The Home of Care was born.

Home of Care has accepted 53 orphans. This sudden close ordered by government made them homeless again.

Yes, they are illegal, as China doe not allow individuals or non-government institutions to be involved in any charity activities other than giving money to government institutions. Under wide spread corruption, people have lost trust in government institutions.

Newspapers in China has cried out about the fate of 53 orphans, "where is their home?" Yes, their home has just been closed by its government, their home is announced 'illegal' today by its government; at the same time, its government does little if any to help them. (boxun.com)
