Last month, a SARS patient from Taiwan complained to media about the high hospital expense in China, their family said "it likes ransom after kidnap". Chinese media has reported 7 SARS patients were rejected by hospital because they did not have money in Inner Mongolia. In the same province, one patient was arrested for "endangering state security" after he escaped hospital. This patient has lost his wife and mom because of SARS. The report did not say why he tried to escape, it is very possible that he has been asked to pay high expense. As a normal practice, patients must show money or pay in advance to receive treatment even for emergency in China. This practice may weaken China's fight against SARS.
