To show WHO SARS is under control in China, police confiscated people's masks
(April 05, 2003) One anonymous journalist from China told Boxun that police in Guangzhou City forced people to get ride off the masks on 4th. On the same day, international medical groups went to Guangzhou to study the situation of SARS.
Police asked people to take off the masks, and threatened to arrest the few that did not want to take off.Police told them that using masks damage China's image in the world. (博讯boxun.com)
WHO has announced that China is not a SARS dangerous country, but a few major cities have confirmed the affected individuals. All other areas or countries have "imported" this dangerous disease though airplane travellers. Taiwan has cancelled 98% of the group travel plan to China.
