A girl was attacked by sulphuric acid on her way to school
(Aug. 10, 2002) In Lufeng City, Chen Yalin, age 15, first prize winner of National English Ability in 2001, was attacked on her way to school by sulpuric acid. Her father was attacked together.
On July 24th morning, Chen was on her way to attend the summer class. She lives in a short distance from school, but she was beaten last Sept. by rogues. Since then, her father escorts her to and from school. Both were attacked by sulpuric acid on face and head. They saw three young men ran away.
In China, there is no school buses, kids must go to school on their own or escorted by parents. The kids learn to ride bike as early as 9 or 10 years old, and some ride bike to school.
