Jounalists in China lost the law suit for reporting human rights violations

【博讯4月24日消息】 Boxun News: Two journalists - RUO Qiao and KANG Benzhong lost a law suit because they reported the human rights violation practice of Sichuan Jianyang Labor Export Corp. on Jan. 11st 2000.

In 2000, RUO Qiao and KANG Benzhong reported the case "Chinese fishermen forced to have appendectomies cut" on Chongqing Business newspaper after a long time investigation together with Tianwang. This human right violation case was reported by hundrends of other Chinese newspapers and some English news papers. English report achieved at Tianwang

RUO Qiao and KANG Benzhong work for Chengdu Business Daily, they wrote a report titled "1400 Peasants were forced to cut their appendectomies". As this human right violation connects to local officials, Chengdu Business Daily did not publish their article. Chongqing Business Newspapper published this article on Jan. 11st, 2000. Chongqing Buiness Newspaper and the two journalists were sued by the Sichuan Jianyang Labor Export Corporation for 'Slandering', and they lost the suit last week in a trial at Jian Yang City. They are charged for 'slandering' and required to pay a 100,000 RMB fine.

Chongqing Business Newspaper and the two journalists have apealed to the Intermediate Court of Ziyang, Sichuan.
